We think you should know why we have to verify Orders whilst other websites don't even bother.
When you have a contact lens Fitting in Britain your Optician must, by law, give you a written copy of your prescription called a Contact Lens Specification. If you order on-line with a UK companysuch as daysoft limited the law then requires that we check that the details you provided for you first order are consistent with this Specification ... this process is called 'verification'.
However, there is no legal requirement for this verification process if you Order on a non-UK website because these are outside the control of the UK's General Optical Council (GOC). This is an anti-competative situation and it is a disadvantage to UK suppliers. But the GOC made matters worse by getting its lawyers to place false information in a 'spoof' order to try to trip us up!
There is no evidence that 'verification' provides any safeguards consistent with this process. It is a restrictive practice, a nonsense, but UK companies have to do it.
You can help by insisting that you are given a written Contact Lens Specification by your Optician immediately after your Fitting. We can then 'verify' this with your Order details. A Specification will normally last for up to 2 years so clearly we don't have to 'verify' every order.
We really do feel that 'verification' is nothing more than a restrictive practice and is being enforced in dubious ways by the GOC against UK suppliers whilst non-UK suppliers supplying foreign made lenses are exempt. Only in Britain!!
