Daysoft profits up 188%
PRESS RELEASE March 15th, 2010
Daysoft has announced a 188% rise in pre-tax profits for the year ending December 2009.
Showing no signs of being affected by the uncertain economic climate, the daily-disposable contact lens manufacturer’s official end-of-year accounts revealed profits grew by more than £860,000 during 2009, up by more than half a million pounds against 2008 figures.
During the 12-month period revenues also rose by 38% to over £6.24m, with the Scottish company attracting 3,000 new online customers each month.
Founder Ron Hamilton said: “Achieving these results in the middle of a severe recession shows that our business model and strategy is resonating with customers who want quality lenses and value for money.”
This year Daysoft plans to expand globally through the introduction of multi-language websites. A French site which was launched recently has received ‘significant’ orders from France and Quebec.
In 2009 Daysoft’s capital investments exceeded £2.6m and included the purchase of state-of-the-art laboratory premises in Blantyre, Lanarkshire. An additional 58 new jobs were created, taking the company’s staff count to 170.
Talking about the business’ future, Mr Hamilton added: “Our sales figures are strong and we have put into place the technology and resources to continue growing over the next year.
“Our future plans include extending our website to include multi-language access with the recent launch of our French language site already attracting hundreds of orders every month. Likewise we continuously seek improvements across the company, and as such we have a pipeline of advanced contact lens materials, and are constantly improving manufacturing efficiencies based on our in-house machine design and assembly departments.”
