Hello Ron,
Thank you for your update on the verification issue, which, like so many things, that are happening to our country at the moment, is yet another assault on beleaguered British companies and on their long-suffering customers.
It is a total nonsense on the part of the GOC to make such a stupid demand on Daysoft and yet not impose the same requirement of foreign suppliers of contact lenses or any other eyewear for that matter. Whatever the principle, it should be applied to all companies rather than discriminating against British companies.
So in my opinion, the bottom line of the vision test board should read:
“GOC policy is unfair”Best wishes, CAV
Sir,
I regularly place orders for Daysoft lenses on behalf of my daughters (being students, it's still down to me to fund them!). Having read your comments on verification, I would just like to comment:
- I would agree with you that the whole process seems rather pointless, especially if people are free to bypass the system by ordering overseas (where they are also more prone to counterfeit goods and a host of other scams).
- If people want to obtain contact lenses, even within the UK, I'm sure the verification process would not stop anyone who was sufficiently determined. But in any event, I can't believe that many people would want to risk ordering lenses without professional advice. ; this is classic red tape overkill.
My daughters have not had any problems getting a contact lens specification. As a family we have remained with a small local optician who has, for many years, always provided us with first class care and sound impartial advice e.g. he advised us to order from you direct as it may prove cheaper and easier. The GOC would perhaps be better employed, ensuring that all opticians provide decent impartial advice - I suspect some are more motivated by targets or having 'preferred suppliers'.
Daysoft lenses are a fantastic product at a very fair price.
Best wishes HAC
Ron,
I totally agree. It's a farce, a waste of time and almost prompted me to purchase lenses from an American company who did not require verification. I hope you take this further and have luck getting the law changed.
Good luck
Kind regards, MAT
Ron,
I am writing to you to express my satisfaction with your lenses, not only on the price, which is an added bonus... but on the comfort and wearability of them.
To keep a long story sort, I started wearing lenses 10 years ago... I started with monthly disposables and for the first 18 months they were ok. Then all of a sudden I just couldn't wear them... my eyes just hurt too much... the optician said I had developed an allergic reaction to the solutions and after not wearing contact lenses for 6 months, I was told I should try daily disposables to avoid having to use any solutions. I did, but they were never comfortable enough. The only ones that I could tolerate for more than 4 hours were Acuvue, but even so, I could never wear them on a daily basis, only at the weekends and never at work where I work on a computer all the time.
About a year ago now I came across your website whilst surfing for "comfortable contact lenses" and I thought, what do I have to loose? Nothing I suppose... I tried them and I am so happy... they are comfortable for the whole day and I can wear them everyday without noticing my eyes getting sore... they are the best contact lenses I have ever had... by far! And at a fraction of the price compared to Acuvue, or any other disposable contact lenses in the market.
Keep the fight going against the big names... your product is miles ahead as far as I am concerned.
Regards, SAM
Hi
As a new wearer of contact lenses I would first like to say that, I have started to use Daysoft lenses this week and to be honest with you they are great, i was given lenses from the Opticians that were to be worn day and night and cleaned on a regular basis, these are really not comfortable and I can tell the difference when I insert daysoft, so thanks for being there. The reason that I say thanks for being there I found that the optician that I used was not very keen in handing over the prescription for my lenses even though I returned to him on several occasions and in the end he still only handed be my Spectacle prescription with hand written details on the Contact lens space in which I have attached a copy for you to see. Once again thanks for supplying my lenses so quickly they are great.
PS The reason that I was given day and night lenses was that he said that they are easier to handle. Regards HAJ
Dear Ron,
Thanks for the email explaining your position on supplying lenses. As a previous user I was very pleased with the quality of your lenses. I am sorry I am no longer able to order them as I feel they are excellent value. Just to let you know I am now ordering from another site with no verification problems that you seem to suffer from. When I next visit my optician I shall certainly revisit your site. Best wishes SBM
Ron
I absolutely agree with you. This is a complete nonsense! I have tried to order contact lenses from UK-based company on the Internet but failed because I don't have a prescription. I got my prescription from my home country, Malaysia so that’s why I don't have a prescription. As a result, I have to order my contact lenses from the States instead. Regards AAH
As the consumer, I have the right to make choices about the validity of things; in that regard, the sight test prescription is quite suitable for ordering contact lenses. I have been checked in the past; that for me is sufficient. I was interested in your lenses, however I will now order my usual lenses from my usual supplier, one of many who take the view that it is up to consumers to decide on their personal health issues and that restrictions in the UK are more about protecting the industry's profits than any genuine health requirement. Regards, EAS

Many thanks for this information. I completely understand being asked for my current prescription before buying lenses and to be honest if I wasn’t I think I would be slightly worried. I understand prescriptions need regular checking too as do my eyes, their health and my vision. Without giving details to verify my prescription I could be putting my vision and health of my eyes at risk - something I obviously do not want to do and you do not want to be responsible for. I would like to let you know I have only ordered once from daysoft and have been extremely happy with my purchase; the lenses are fantastic, good quality and a perfect fit. Many thanks, KAN.
